And I was really hoping that you would leave it as a comment, so that I could always have it to look at when I read through the One Year Bible:). So thanks!

Also, great thoughts on the NT. It always helps me to wrap my mind around things when someone else shares their perspective with me. So thanks--that really helped!Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15063678082377147197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9112439593032667008.post-51008392807101587812010-07-19T05:17:50.582-07:002010-07-19T05:17:50.582-07:00OT: Today was one of those days that I found littl...OT: Today was one of those days that I found little gems that I know for sure I will ponder and meditate on often ...

I found this beautiful verse tucked in the middle of David's speech that I found mirrored the prayer of my heart for my boys..."And {Ty, Canon and Joshua}, my sons, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever." 28:9 ...couldnt have said it better myself.

Also, I loved the verse .."Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. He will see to it that all the work related to the Temple of the Lord is finished correctly." 28:20 ..again, I see the work of the "temple" as similar to my work with my kids. Raising these kids as little men of God is like the work of the temple which David referred to .."The work ahead of him is enormous, for the Temple he will build is not for mere mortals—it is for the Lord God himself!" 29:1

And, just so that I can relate it totally to myself ..vs.2, "Using every resource at my command, I have gathered as much as I could for building the Temple of my God." :)

Awesome.

I love the intimacy with which David speaks to Solomon about God ..he is clearly asking his so to follow in his footsteps and at the end of his life asserts that God was faithful all along.

NT: Great questions ..I have thoughts..

"How much more" ..I have always read that as "if He would do this then he CERTAINLY will do this" .."if we were reconciled by his death then FOR SURE we are reconciled by his life." Its like it gets BETTER and BETTER!

The Law - I really think that the law revealing sin thing is an interesting thought. I see it as a pair of glasses that God gave us to make us aware of our own sinfulness. "you didnt KNOW you were so far gone if I hadnt shown you through the law! Here is the measure of right, and this is how far off you were. If you didnt have the law then you wouldnt even know you were sinful!"

vs 13 ..."you were doing all the wrong things even before you knew you were. You didnt care that you were bringing death on yourself because you didnt know you were."

vs. 21 ..."When I gave you the law it became abundantly clear how screwed up you were, so then I could give you all the forgiveness you needed. The more sinful you are, the more grace and forgiveness I give ..the law makes it clear how sinful you were, so I give that much grace to you to cover it."

"Without the law, you wouldnt know or appreciate either."

That is my interpretation anyways...thinking of it that way leads beautifully into tomorrow's reading .."so, if we get more grace if we sin more..then, should we just keep sinning?!"

Love it.

Proverbs: I love the NLT wording for this verse ..."Discipline your children while there is hope.Otherwise you will ruin their lives." sheesh..no pressure.Courtneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10842076898324199994noreply@blogger.com
